How much does a stonemason earn?
Stonemasons and stone sculptors work natural and cast stone: they saw, grind, profile and install pieces for façades, interiors, memorials, stairs and heritage conservation – in the workshop and on site. Gross pay depends on region, craft collective agreements, company size, specialisation and order situation. As a guide, qualified stonemasons in Germany in 2026 often earn about €3,150–€3,750 gross per month; during apprenticeship around €980–€1,320 is typical.
Salary by region (gross/month)
Guide figures as of 2026. The apprenticeship column refers to dual training as stonemason/stone sculptor; qualified means practising stonemasons. Actual pay depends on collective agreements, hardship and site allowances, employer, region, specialisation (e.g. restoration, memorials, CNC) and experience and is not a guarantee.
